Brits and Battleship
Waking up to a great view from our hotel room balcony was a great
way to start the "Brits and Battleships" weekend. A
beautiful Saturday morning saw twelve TCOC members' cars among
a great collection of over 150 British cars on display between
the Battleship USS North Carolina and the Cape Fear River, with
the Wilmington skyline in the background.
Midday saw the TCOC ladies heading to the water taxi for the
short trip across the river and lunch at The Wilmington Tea Room.
As they did not return for about 3 hours, it gave the male contingency
plenty of time to sit around and do what we do best!
During the course fo the afternoon there was a constant stream
of announcements for the raffle prizes, with Louis Ezelle being
successful in winning a copper picture of a lighthouse for his
daughter's collection, and Kevin Andrews was seen to be walking
around with a large grin on his face after finding himself financially
much better off after winning the 50/50 raffle.
When it came time for the presentation of the awards it came
as a pleasant surprise to find that 7 TCOC members' cars were
recognized as born out by the smiling faces...

After a good meal, with great comapny at Big daddy's on Saturday
night, and a good night's sleep, we took the ferry across the
Cape Fear River from Fort Fisher to Southport where we quite correctly
filled up the cars at a BP petrol station and headed uneventfully
home!
