Driving Tour in the Blue Ridge
Foothills
Friday, April 20
On Friday, you can enjoy a leisurely tour over the scenic Surry County
back roads in the Blue Ridge Foothills.
The self-paced tour leaves from the host hotel and can be
started any time between 2 and 5 pm

After your drive, you are free
to enjoy a leisurely evening enjoying the area. Take a
stroll
down Mt. Airy's Main Street that reminds people of the
town of Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show, do some
shopping and enjoy a nice meal in your choice of
restaurant. (A list of available dining options
will be provided.)

Silent Auction
Saturday, April 21, 9:30 am–2:30 pm
Each year the auction proves to be an event high point
as participants vie for parts and
British car memorabilia. Year after year, vendors in the
British car community
generously donate items for the Gathering auction. We
get items from all over that range from tools
to clothing to parts to models. I promise you'll find
something you cannot live without!
This year, the auction will be held as a Silent Auction
at Shelton Vineyards throughout the show. Bidding
opens at 9 am and concludes at 2:30 pm. Winners
will be announced at 3 pm at the band shell along with
the winner of the 50/50 raffle.
(No used parts will be accepted for this year's
auction. All items will be new parts, regalia or
memorabilia donated by supporting vendors.)

Wrench Wracing Competition and
Concours
Saturday, April 21, 1 pm
Take an enthusiast, a tool, four wheels and too much time on your hands and what do you
have? Wrench Wracing!
In past years, Wrench Wracing has
become one of the most fierce (and funniest)
competitions of the weekend as mankind and tool go head-to-head in search of the fastest. This
Pinewood Derby-style race requires little other than an extra tool or two, some
time and an imaginative mind.
Watch as kids and kids-at-heart assemble to find out which
wracer will be the first to the bottom of the hill. If you are planning on
attending the Gathering, this event is one not to miss! It's definitely
worth the small effort required to build up a wracer of your own!
There
will be both match racing and a popular vote “concours” held for wrench
racers. All entries must be:

Barrel Tasting and Tour/Tasting
Saturday, April 21, 10
am–4 pm
Enjoy a behind the scenes tour and barrel tasting of
several wine lots still aging in the cellars of Shelton
Vineyards. Learn how different yeast strains and
different barrel types impact the taste profiles of
different wine varieties. Also learn about the wine
maker's
thought processes for choosing different barrel lot
components in making the final blend that end up in the
bottle. Taste the unfinished components that Shelton's
wine maker has available to choose form prior to
conducting blending trials. The cost for the
Barrel Tasting is $10, paid at the door, with a limit of 20
people for each tour that leaves at the top of each
hour.
Shelton Vineyards will also offer
its normal winery tour and tasting at $5 per person.
Participants in both the Barrel
Tasting
and tour/tasting will receive a commemorative wine glass
featuring the Shelton Vineyards and Gathering logos.
